A broken radio in a warehouse is an inconvenience. A broken radio on a fire ground is a life-safety issue. When communication equipment fails, you need a technician who knows the equipment, has the parts, and can turn the repair around fast. Not a help desk ticketing system.
VEI maintains factory-certified repair technicians at all seven locations across Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Most common repairs, cracked housings, damaged antennas, battery failures, and audio problems, are completed same-day or next-day. For radios that need bench time, we provide loaners so your operation keeps running while yours is in the shop.
For operations that cannot afford unplanned downtime, our preventive maintenance plans schedule inspections before problems develop. We check transmit power, battery capacity, firmware version, and physical condition on a defined schedule. Issues get caught during a planned visit, not during a shift when your team needs the radio. Emergency service agreements with guaranteed response times are available for public safety, hospital, and utility customers who need a technician on-site, not a callback, when a system goes down at 2 AM.

Factory-Certified Repair
VEI technicians hold factory certifications across the brands we sell and service. Repairs use OEM parts, not aftermarket substitutes. Certification means we have access to manufacturer diagnostics, service manuals, and technical support that independent shops do not.
Seven Repair Locations
Walk-in repair service at all seven VEI locations across Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina. You do not ship equipment across the country and wait two weeks. Most customers bring equipment to the nearest location and have it back within 24 hours.
Loaner Equipment
When a radio needs bench time beyond same-day service, we provide a loaner unit so your operation is not short-handed. Loaners come programmed for your channels so the user can work immediately. No gap in coverage while your equipment is being repaired.
Preventive Maintenance Plans
Scheduled inspections catch problems before they cause failures in the field. Maintenance visits include transmit power measurement, battery capacity testing, firmware updates, frequency accuracy verification, and physical inspection of housings, connectors, and antennas.
Emergency Service Agreements
Public safety, hospital, and utility customers can add emergency service agreements with contractual response times. When your system goes down outside business hours, you reach a VEI technician, not a voicemail. Guaranteed response times are documented in the agreement, not just promised verbally.
Infrastructure Repair
We repair and service radio infrastructure, not just portable radios. Repeaters, base stations, antennas, power supplies, and dispatch console hardware are all within our technician capabilities. One vendor for your entire radio system, field units and infrastructure alike.
Our Process
Diagnosis
Bring the radio to any VEI location or ship it to us. We diagnose the issue and provide a repair estimate before any work begins.
Repair
Factory-certified technicians handle the repair with OEM parts. Most common repairs completed same-day or next-day.
Testing
Every repaired radio goes through a full bench test: transmit power, receive sensitivity, frequency accuracy, and audio quality verified before return.
Return & Follow-up
Repaired equipment returned with a service report. Maintenance plan customers get automatic scheduling for their next inspection.
