Overview
Public safety agencies at refineries, chemical facilities, and mining operations face a regulatory requirement that most P25 portables cannot meet: Intrinsically Safe certification for use in Division 1 classified hazardous locations. Separate IS-rated radios on a different protocol than the rest of the fleet create interoperability gaps that complicate mutual aid and incident command.
