Tait TM9800
The TM9800 is Tait's P25 multiband mobile radio for public safety vehicles, delivering VHF and UHF P25 Phase 1 and Phase 2 with TIA-102 CAP compliance and AES end-to-end encryption. At 25W with selectable power down to 1W, it is designed as the in-vehicle companion to the TP9800 portable, providing consistent multiband coverage across a complete first responder fleet.

Overview
When a public safety agency deploys multiband P25 portables, their vehicle radios need to match that band capability. A vehicle radio locked to a single band creates a communication gap when officers move between jurisdictions or when mutual aid brings agencies from different frequency plans to the same incident.
The TM9800 covers VHF 136-174MHz and UHF 378-520MHz with selectable power at 25W, 10W, 5W, and 1W. It supports Analog, Analog Simulcast IP, P25 Phase 1 FDMA, P25 Phase 2 TDMA, and both conventional and trunked P25 operation. Analog sensitivity is 0.22uV (-120dBm) at 12dB SINAD for both VHF and UHF. P25 sensitivity is 0.22uV (-120dBm) at 5% BER. The TM9800 meets TIA-102 P25 Compliance Assessment Program requirements, which is a mandatory check for most government procurement bids. AES end-to-end encryption satisfies P25 secure voice requirements. Both internal and external GNSS options provide flexible installation across different vehicle types.
IP54 protection and military environmental standards cover humidity, sand and dust, vibration, shock, and rain. Operating temperature is -30 degrees C to 60 degrees C. Lone Worker is standard. OTAP allows remote fleet programming. Bands are reconfigurable over the air, so vehicle fleets do not require hardware replacement when frequency plans change, delivering the same migration cost savings as the TP9800 portable in the vehicle-mount segment.
Key Features
VHF and UHF Multiband P25
Covers VHF 136-174MHz and UHF 378-520MHz with over-the-air band reconfiguration so vehicle-mount hardware does not need to be replaced when frequency plans change. Configurable as single-band or simultaneous dual-band to match the agency's operational requirements at any deployment stage.
25W Mobile Output Power
Selectable at 25W, 10W, 5W, and 1W, the TM9800 delivers vehicle-class output that extends coverage range beyond portable radios in the same location. The 25W level is particularly relevant for operations in fringe coverage areas and in-building penetration scenarios where portable power is insufficient.
AES End-to-End Encryption
AES end-to-end encryption satisfies P25 encrypted voice requirements for public safety agencies. TIA-102 P25 Compliance Assessment Program certification is a line-item requirement in most government procurement bids, and the TM9800 meets it, reducing procurement risk for agencies on formal bid processes.
Internal and External GNSS
Both internal and external GNSS antenna options accommodate different vehicle installation configurations, including installations where an external antenna is required for antenna gain or mounting location constraints. This flexibility reduces installation complexity across diverse vehicle types in a public safety fleet.
OTAP Remote Programming
OTAP compatibility allows remote configuration updates across vehicle-mounted radios without requiring vehicles to return to a service location. For agencies managing hundreds of vehicle radios across multiple stations, this reduces programming labor significantly and keeps vehicles in service during fleet-wide updates.
Lone Worker Standard
Lone Worker is a standard feature for vehicle operators working solo in the field. Pre-set status messages and short data messaging provide structured communication options without voice calls, supporting dispatch-heavy operations where voice channel usage needs to be managed. OTAP maintains the fleet remotely.
