Tait TM9400

The TM9400 is Tait's flagship P25 mobile radio for vehicle fleets, with 4,000 channels across 100 zones, optional 50W output for extended terrain coverage, and P25 Phase 1 and Phase 2 across VHF, UHF, and 700/800MHz. AES encryption with OTAR and Key Fill Device support meets the strictest cryptographic key management requirements in law enforcement and federal deployments.

Overview

Large public safety agencies with complex trunked P25 networks need a vehicle radio that matches the capacity and security requirements of their infrastructure. A 100-zone, 4,000-channel plan covering multi-county operations across VHF, UHF, and 700/800MHz cannot be served by a mid-range mobile with limited zone capacity and no OTAR.

The TM9400 covers VHF 136-174MHz, UHF 400-470MHz and 450-520MHz, and 700/800MHz 762-870MHz. High-power models are available at 50W VHF, 40W UHF, and 35W 700/800MHz, selectable down to 1-2W. The full-capacity TM9455 variant provides 4,000 channels across 100 zones. It supports Analog, Analog Simulcast IP, P25 Phase 1 FDMA, P25 Phase 2 TDMA, and LSM (CQPSK) decode for simulcast network compatibility. P25 sensitivity is 0.22uV (-120dBm) across all bands. AES end-to-end encryption with OTAR and Tait Key Fill Device (KFD) integration provides managed cryptographic key distribution across the fleet.

IP54 protection and MIL-STD-810G certification cover vibration, shock, and humidity. Operating temperature is -30 degrees C to 60 degrees C. Lone Worker is standard. Voice recording is available on select models. Bluetooth and WiFi OTAP are available for remote fleet management. TIA-102 P25 CAP compliance satisfies government procurement requirements and CJIS-related security obligations for law enforcement agencies.

Key Features

4,000 Channels, 100 Zones

The TM9455 configuration provides 4,000 channels across 100 zones, accommodating the most complex multi-agency, multi-site channel plans in use by large county and state public safety systems. This capacity eliminates the need to choose between channel coverage areas, giving commanders access to every talkgroup from a single vehicle radio.

50W High-Power Output

Optional 50W VHF models are designed for rural, mountainous, and geographically large coverage areas where lower power is not sufficient to maintain reliable communications. Selectable power from 1W to 50W allows precise RF management at urban sites where high power would cause co-channel interference.

OTAR and Key Fill Device Integration

AES end-to-end encryption with OTAR (Over-the-Air Rekeying) and Tait KFD integration meets CJIS and DHS cryptographic key management requirements. OTAR distributes updated encryption keys to the entire vehicle fleet without physical contact, and KFD provides controlled key injection for agencies with stricter key custody requirements.

LSM Simulcast Decode

LSM (CQPSK) Linear Simulcast Modulation decode supports P25 simulcast networks where coverage is extended by multiple base stations transmitting simultaneously. Many state and large county P25 systems use simulcast architecture, and LSM decode is required for reliable operation across the full coverage footprint of these networks.

P25 Phase 1 and Phase 2 Across All Bands

Full P25 Phase 1 FDMA and Phase 2 TDMA support across VHF, UHF, and 700/800MHz ensures the TM9400 can operate on any P25 system the agency currently runs or plans to deploy. TIA-102 P25 CAP compliance is a procurement requirement for most government bid processes, and the TM9400 satisfies it across all supported bands.

Lone Worker and Voice Recording

Lone Worker is standard with automated dispatch alerts for solo vehicle operators. Voice recording is available on select models for incident documentation. Bluetooth, WiFi OTAP, and onboard voice recording options allow the TM9400 to be configured to the specific operational and documentation requirements of each agency.
