Kenwood NXR-710 / NXR-810
The NXR-710 and NXR-810 are NEXEDGE VHF and UHF digital repeaters for single-site conventional coverage at campuses, hospitals, manufacturing plants, and hotels. Mixed FM and NXDN digital operation lets analog and digital users share the same repeater simultaneously. 1,000 GIDs and 1,000 UIDs per site scale with large employee populations.
Overview
Single-site facilities with existing analog FM infrastructure often need digital capability for improved audio quality, better spectral efficiency, and features like group calls and individual calling. The NXR-710 and NXR-810 support both simultaneously, so an organization can add digital NEXEDGE radios to an existing analog fleet without forcing everyone to upgrade at once.
The NXR-710 covers VHF at 136-174 MHz with 50 W at 50% duty cycle and 25 W at 100% duty cycle. The NXR-810 covers UHF in Type K (450-520 MHz) and Type K2 (400-470 MHz) at 40 W at 50% duty cycle and 25 W at 100% duty cycle. Mixed mode operation allows FM and NXDN digital to share the repeater simultaneously. Channel capacity is 30, with support for 1,000 Group IDs and 1,000 Unit IDs per site, adequate for large hospital campuses, industrial facilities, and hotels with hundreds of radio users. The AMBE+2 vocoder provides digital voice quality significantly above analog scrambler alternatives.
The 2U rack-mount enclosure measures 483 x 88 x 340 mm and weighs 21.4 lbs, fitting standard equipment room racks. A built-in 16-QT/DQT repeater control, DTMF remote management, and six programmable lighted function keys provide local control options. Optional IP network connectivity enables multi-site expansion. Programmable auxiliary I/O ports and a 4 W external speaker output complete the installation interface. Operating temperature range is -22 to 140 degrees F.
Key Features
Mixed FM and NXDN Digital Operation
Analog FM and NXDN digital users share the same repeater simultaneously without configuration changes or separate hardware. This eliminates the need to run parallel infrastructure during a migration, allowing an organization to add digital radios to an analog fleet incrementally over months or years without any disruption to existing analog users.
1,000 GIDs and 1,000 UIDs per Site
Support for 1,000 Group IDs and 1,000 Unit IDs per site accommodates large campus and industrial deployments where many departments, teams, and individual radio users need unique identifiers. This is considerably more capacity than basic repeater platforms that limit group and unit IDs to double-digit counts.
AMBE+2 Digital Voice Quality
The AMBE+2 vocoder delivers digital voice quality substantially above analog FM, particularly in low-signal conditions where analog audio degrades with static while digital maintains intelligibility until the signal drops entirely. NXDN digital also enables encryption, group calling, and individual calling without additional hardware.
Optional Multi-Site IP Expansion
Conventional IP network connectivity is available as a software option, enabling the NXR-710 or NXR-810 to join a multi-site NEXEDGE network as the organization grows. This protects the repeater investment against future expansion requirements without requiring hardware replacement to add IP connectivity.
DTMF Remote Control and I/O Ports
Built-in DTMF remote control enables monitoring and auxiliary output management without a network connection to the site. Six programmable lighted function keys provide local status indication and control. Programmable auxiliary I/O ports connect door sensors, alarms, and other facility systems to the radio network for integrated alerting.
