Overview

Infrastructure decisions carry long time horizons. A repeater purchased today for a single-site conventional deployment might need to support a multi-site trunked system in five years. Buying a basic conventional repeater now and replacing it when trunking becomes necessary doubles the capital cost. The NXR-5700 and NXR-5800 are designed for organizations that want infrastructure that grows with them rather than gets replaced.

The NXR-5700 covers VHF at 136-174 MHz. The NXR-5800 covers UHF in Type 1 (450-520 MHz) and Type 2 (380-470 MHz). Both output 25 W at 100% duty cycle and 0.5 W minimum. Channel capacity is 30. Protocols include NXDN Conventional, NXDN Type-C trunking (NEXEDGE Gen2), Analog FM, and Mixed Mode (digital and analog simultaneously). NXDN trunked networks scale to 48 sites, with 65,519 Group IDs and 65,519 Unit IDs per network for large regional or statewide deployments.

Digital voting aggregates signals from multiple antenna sites to select the best receiver, extending effective coverage. RF link and digital simulcast distribute audio simultaneously across multiple sites. Ethernet IP LAN/WAN connectivity, SNMP management, USB 2.0 Type-B, and remote system firmware updates are built in. EIA voter tone generation supports third-party voting receivers. LTR and MPT1327 external controller interfaces protect investment in existing trunking controllers. IP54/55 and MIL-STD-810 C through G make the 1U enclosure suitable for tower site and outdoor cabinet installations. The unit weighs 11 lbs at 483 x 44 x 331 mm.

Key Features

NXDN Trunking at 48 Sites

NEXEDGE Gen2 Type-C trunking connects up to 48 sites in a single trunked network without requiring a separate trunking controller, as the architecture is distributed across the repeater network itself. This enables regional and statewide coverage using the same repeater hardware deployed for initial single-site conventional operation.

Digital Voting and Simulcast

Digital voting selects the best received signal from multiple antenna sites automatically, extending effective coverage in areas with signal overlap or multiple receive antennas. RF link and digital simulcast distribute audio simultaneously across multiple sites for uniform coverage. Both capabilities are built into the standard repeater without add-on hardware.

65,519 GIDs and UIDs per Network

NXDN trunked mode supports 65,519 Group IDs and 65,519 Unit IDs per network, providing capacity for large regional agencies and organizations with hundreds of talkgroups across multiple departments. Conventional operation supports 1,000 GIDs and 1,000 UIDs per site, appropriate for single-site commercial deployments.

IP Networking with Remote Firmware Updates

Ethernet LAN/WAN connectivity supports centralized management across all sites in the network. SNMP integration places repeaters in enterprise network monitoring systems. Remote firmware updates over IP eliminate the need to physically visit each site for software maintenance, which is operationally significant for 48-site networks spread across large geographic areas.

IP54/55 and MIL-STD-810 for Tower Sites

IP54/55 ingress protection and MIL-STD-810 C through G environmental certification make the NXR-5700 and NXR-5800 appropriate for tower site installations, equipment shelters without full climate control, and outdoor cabinets in varied weather conditions. Operating range is -22 to 140 degrees F. The 1U enclosure weighs 11 lbs at 483 x 44 x 331 mm.

LTR and MPT1327 Controller Support

External controller interfaces for LTR and MPT1327 trunking systems allow the NXR-5700 and NXR-5800 to integrate with existing third-party trunking controllers already in use. EIA voter tone generation supports third-party voting receiver systems for organizations with existing voted antenna infrastructure they don't want to replace.
