Kenwood NX-700 / NX-800

The NX-700 and NX-800 are Kenwood's NEXEDGE bridge radios for fleets migrating from FM analog to NXDN digital. They run NXDN, optional P25, FM Conventional, LTR, and FleetSync II on the same hardware, so existing analog infrastructure doesn't become waste the day you add a digital channel. Large dot-matrix LCD with a 3-digit sub-display, IP54/55, MIL-STD-810 C through G, and 512 channels across 128 zones.

Overview

Fleets with existing FleetSync or LTR infrastructure face a specific migration problem: they need NXDN digital capability but can't abandon the analog systems still in use by part of the fleet. The NX-700 and NX-800 are designed for exactly that situation, running NXDN conventional digital alongside FM Conventional, LTR trunking, and FleetSync II signaling simultaneously.

The NX-700 covers VHF at 136-174 MHz with 50/30 W output. The NX-800 covers UHF in Type 1 (450-520 MHz) and Type 2 (400-470 MHz) at 45/30 W, both adjustable down to 1 W. Channel capacity is 512 across 128 zones with 250 channels per zone. Optional P25 digital protocol upgrade is available for agencies that anticipate moving to P25. A 14-character alphanumeric alias system makes channel and contact naming practical for non-technical operators.

The large dot-matrix LCD includes a 3-digit sub-display, status icons, and 12/24-hour clock. IP54/55 and MIL-STD-810 C through G cover the vehicle environment. Multi-site IP network compatibility enables wide-area deployments across multiple linked repeater sites. Cloning capability accelerates fleet programming. A DB-25 accessory connector, dual priority scan, voice inversion scrambler for analog privacy, and FleetSync II PTT ID and ANI are all standard. Optional GPS and Public Address are available as upgrades.

Key Features

NXDN and FM Analog Side by Side

NXDN digital and FM Conventional operate simultaneously, so NXDN-equipped users and legacy analog users share the same vehicle radio fleet without separate hardware. LTR trunking and FleetSync II signaling are supported alongside NXDN, protecting investment in organizations with existing LTR or FleetSync infrastructure.

Multi-Site IP Network Support

Built-in multi-site IP network compatibility connects the radio to wide-area repeater networks, enabling coverage across multiple linked sites from a single channel selection. This extends practical range for transportation, logistics, and utility fleets operating across large geographic areas without requiring additional radio hardware.

Large Dot-Matrix LCD with Sub-Display

The primary dot-matrix display handles 14-character alphanumeric aliases, status icons, and zone/channel information. The 3-digit numeric sub-display shows channel numbers at a glance alongside the main display. A built-in 12/24-hour clock is visible on the main screen, useful for dispatch and time-stamped logging purposes.

Fleet Programming via Cloning

Cloning capability lets a technician copy programming from one radio to the next without a PC, significantly accelerating fleet updates when a large number of vehicles need the same channel changes. Front panel test and tune functionality appeals to fleet technicians who manage their own equipment in-house.

PTT ID and Analog Privacy

FleetSync II provides PTT ID and ANI over analog channels, enabling dispatch accountability and call logging without upgrading to full digital. Voice inversion scrambler adds basic analog privacy on channels where it's appropriate. Remote Stun, Kill, and Check extend management capability over NXDN digital channels.
