Kenwood NX-1200 / NX-1300
The NX-1200 and NX-1300 let you run NXDN, DMR, and FM analog on a single radio, so you can start digital without replacing your existing infrastructure. At 5 watts and under 175 grams, it's a genuine all-day carry radio with Kenwood's clean audio, Lone Worker, and Remote Stun/Kill built in. IP54/55 and MIL-STD-810 C through G keep it running in warehouses, distribution centers, and anything in between.
Overview
Most fleets migrating from analog hit the same wall: they have to pick a digital protocol before they're ready, or run two separate radio types during the transition. That's a real cost and a real operational headache for dispatch and IT teams managing mixed fleets.
The NX-1200 (VHF, 136-174 MHz) and NX-1300 (UHF, 400-520 MHz) solve this by running NXDN 6.25 kHz FDMA, DMR Tier II, and FM analog on a single device. Zones can mix digital and analog channels in any combination, so you can introduce digital channels gradually without disrupting existing operations. Output power is 5 W high, 4 W medium, 1 W low, with 260 channels and 128 zones on keypad models. The 2,000 mAh KNB-45L battery delivers roughly 14.5 hours on DMR at a standard duty cycle.
The radio body weighs 6.17 oz without a battery and measures 54 x 123 x 33.5 mm, making it comfortable for all-day wear in retail, logistics, and hospitality. IP54/55 rating handles dust and water spray, and MIL-STD-810 C through G covers the shock, vibration, and temperature extremes commercial operations regularly produce. Operating range spans -22 to 140 degrees F.
Key Features
Three-Protocol Operation
A single NX-1200 or NX-1300 runs NXDN, DMR Tier II, and FM analog without hardware changes. Zones can hold a mix of digital and analog channels, letting you add digital capacity incrementally as your network grows. There's no need to commit to a protocol at purchase time.
Kenwood Audio with DSP
The TX/RX audio profile is tunable via the built-in DSP. Audio Equalizer supports Flat, High, and Low presets. Auto Gain Control and Noise Suppressor reduce background noise on both transmit and receive, producing consistent voice clarity in high-ambient-noise environments like warehouses and loading docks.
Worker Safety Features
Lone Worker mode triggers an automatic emergency alert if the radio user goes quiet for a configurable period. Emergency Function has a customizable profile, and Remote Stun, Kill, and Check let dispatch manage radios over the air without physical access. All three are standard, not paid add-ons.
Full-Shift Battery Life
The standard KNB-45L 2,000 mAh lithium-ion battery runs approximately 14.5 hours in DMR mode. Upgrading to the KNB-69L 2,550 mAh battery extends that to roughly 19 hours. Both batteries keep the radio profile slim, with the larger option adding only 4 mm of depth.
Front Panel Programming
Keypad models can be reprogrammed in the field without a PC or programming cable. This significantly reduces downtime for channel changes and is particularly useful for distributed fleet operations where getting a radio back to a tech is impractical during a shift.
IP54/55 and MIL-STD-810
Dust and water spray resistance is rated to IP54 without a connector cover and IP55 with the bracket or cover attached. MIL-STD-810 C through G certification covers drop, vibration, humidity, salt fog, and temperature extremes from -22 to 140 degrees F. The 7-color top-panel LED provides at-a-glance channel identification.
