Overview

Retail floors, hotel back-of-house, and warehouse aisles are loud, and staff need a radio that cuts through cart noise, HVAC, and shift-change chatter without riding the volume knob. Budget usually rules out a full digital P25 or DMR fleet, but a consumer-grade walkie fails on day one and leaves lone employees with no way to call for help. Operations need analog two-way that survives drops and spills, keeps channels simple for high-turnover staff, and covers the person working alone in a stockroom or loading dock.

The IC-F1000 (VHF, 136-174 MHz) and IC-F2000 (UHF, 400-470 or 450-520 MHz) answer with 5 W, 2 W, and 1 W selectable output and a BTL amplifier driving Icom's speaker to 1500 mW of audio, loud enough over equipment and crowd noise. T/S versions carry 128 channels across 8 zones with an 8-character display and a 16-position rotary selector; the base model runs 16 channels for zero-training simplicity. CTCSS/DTCS, 2-Tone, 5-Tone, and MDC 1200 signaling, DTMF autodial, VOX, and priority scan round out the set, with Man Down, Lone Worker, motion detection, and an Emergency key for staff working alone.

At 240 g with the BP-279 pack (270 g with BP-280) and 52.2 x 111.8 x 24.5 mm, it disappears into a belt clip or apron pocket, and up to 20 hours VHF / 18 hours UHF on the BP-280 covers a full shift. IP67 sealing keeps out dust and a dunking, and the chassis is tested across 12 categories of MIL-STD-810G, from -30°C to +60°C operation, plus vibration and shock. Built for hospitality, retail, property management, and warehousing teams that need a rugged, no-fuss analog radio their whole staff can use.

Key Features

Class-Leading 1500 mW Audio

A BTL amplifier drives Icom's large-diameter internal speaker to 1500 mW typical output, loud and clear enough to hear over forklifts, HVAC, and crowd noise. An optional HM-222HLWP speaker-microphone matches that same 1500 mW when connected externally.

IP67 Sealed, MIL-STD-810G Tested

Dust-tight and waterproof to IP67, the chassis is tested across 12 categories of MIL-STD-810G, including immersion, rain, vibration, shock, and temperature shock. It operates from -30°C to +60°C, well past typical indoor equipment ratings.

Man Down and Lone Worker Protection

A built-in motion and stationary detection sensor triggers the Man Down function automatically, and a dedicated Emergency key sends an alert on demand. Lone Worker monitoring covers staff working alone in stockrooms, loading docks, or after hours.

128 Channels Across 8 Zones

T/S versions carry 128 channels organized into 8 zones with an 8-character alphanumeric display and a 16-position rotary selector for fast channel changes. The base model simplifies down to 16 channels for teams that need zero training.

Up to 20 Hours on a Charge

The BP-280 battery pack delivers up to 20 hours of VHF operating time (18 hours UHF) at 5 W output, enough to cover a full shift without a midday swap. The lighter BP-279 pack keeps the radio at 240 g for all-day carry.

Selective Signaling and Remote Control

CTCSS/DTCS, 2-Tone, 5-Tone, and MDC 1200 (limited functions) signaling plus DTMF autodial handle selective calling and dispatch. Radio Stun, Revive, and Kill commands over 2-Tone and 5-Tone (plus Stun/Revive over MDC) let admins disable a lost or stolen unit remotely.
